The Disinformation Handbook

Conflict and communications in the disinformation age

This 64 page handbook was produced for the Institute of War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) with support from a number of Moldovan-based charities , the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of the ‘Countering Disinformation in Moldova Project’.

The guide has been designed to help support Moldovan journalists, communicators and campaigners to identify, understand and  counteract the hate speech, propaganda and disinformation associated with conflict reporting. It does so by looking at the history, differences, culture and politics of conflict reporting, providing the reader with a number of scenarios, case studies and interviews to help them in their roles as communicators.

This guide was also translated into Moldovan and is the sister publication of the Gender Disinformation Handbook, published in 2024.
